On the third day of the international Halal Fair of Halal Fair Sarajevo Halal Fair (SHF) 2018, the organizers of the event – Bosnia Bank International (BBI), the Islamic Community in BiH and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) awarded the best exhibitors selected by the visitors as well as companies and individuals who contributed to the halal industry.

“We bestowed exhibitors for contributing to the development of the halal industry in BiH, the region and the world. We award the first prize to the company with the highest number of halal certified products, and the second category went for the remarkable contribution to the development of the halal industry. Since this is the first fair, we are absolutely satisfied with the number of exhibitors, visitors, guests and the media. We made sure that more than 500 guests from all over the world came to the fair, and a large number of bilateral meetings were held, “said Salih Purišević, Secretary General of BBI Bank and chief coordinator of SBF and SHF.

Salih Purišević and Damir Alihodžić, director of the Agency for Halal Quality Certification in BiH, presented the awards of the organisers and laureates.

The organizer’s award for the company with the highest number of halal certified products came from the Bosnian holding company AS Holding that has 906 halal certified products.
The Mufti of Zagreb dr. Aziz ef. Hasanović is the winner of the award for outstanding contribution to the development of the halal industry in the region. The award for Mufti ef. Hasanović was taken over by Aldin Dugonjić, the Head of the Halal Quality Certification Center of Croatia.

“The halal industry is continually developing in Croatia, while the number of requests for halal certificates is growing. The largest number of requests come from the food and cosmetics industry, but also in the field of hotel business, catering and tourism,” Dugonjić pointed out.

The awards for outstanding contribution to the development of the halal industry in Bosnia and Herzegovina went to prof.dr. Midhat Jašić from the Faculty of Technology at the University of Tuzla and Amir Sakić, Director of Media Center IZBiH and former director of the Agency for Halal Quality Certification in BiH. In order to contribute to the development of the halal industry in BiH, the award was given to the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“My profession is food-related, and halal food is an important segment. It is an honor to receive a reward for what I have worked with for the past ten years, “said prof.dr. Jašić.

According to the selection of SHF 2018 visitors, the best company was the UKA Komerc company from Skopje.

“We are especially pleased that our efforts have been rewarded by visitors. Halal certification and halal production is out of competition. This means for our consumers that they buy healthy and clean food, “said Adem Abazi from UKA Komerc.

SHF 2018 is organized by Bosnia Bank International (BBI) in cooperation with the Islamic Community in BiH and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) gathered participants from more than 40 countries and around 100 exhibitors from all over the world.

During the three days of SHF 2018, regional producers of halal products and providers of halal services from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Macedonia and Albania, with large customers and distributors from the European Union, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Malaysia, Bahrain, Libya and the United Arab Emirates gathered and networked to facilitate cooperation and business.
